The National Collector's Mint, the tacky company that made commemorative coins, including a
pop-up World Trade Center edition, from "the same
silver that was reclaimed from the destruction," tried--and failed--to donate $30,000 to the World Trade Center Memorial Foundation. The Foundation, "
uncomfortable with the history" of the firm and its coins,
refused the gift. National Collector's Mint was fined for falsely stating each coin was made from pure silver.
