    Guy Debord once wrote, "The social absence of death is one with the social absence of life." I think that, as you put it, the infantalizing of death is an equal sign of some fundamental neglect of life's mysteries, too.

    How does it really help people cope with grief and loss if they are always handling and hugging this bear - in fact, the remains of their loved one? Like some kind of a grief pacifier...
