German chancellor Gerhard Schroeder is using an image of five flag-draped coffins bearing US soldiers killed in Iraq in his re-election posters. The tagline, "She would have sent soldiers," is targeted at his conservative challenger Angela Merkel. "As long as we are in office, German foreign policy will be made in Berlin and not anywhere else," said Schroeder at a rally this week, adding that Merkel lacked the strength to stand up to "the kind of pressure" he had to face in opposing involvement in Iraq.
