The Urban Forest Project consists of 185 tree-inspired banners created by prominent graphic designers and displayed in Times Square. Bringing a "forest of ideas" (gak!) to a tree-free public space, the project aims to raise awareness of, well, trees as metaphor and environmental issue. After the project comes down, the banners--including designs by Michael Beirut, the Walker Design Studio, Futurefarmers, and others--will be made into bags and auctioned off, with proceeds going to art education scholarships.
