At long last, the Walker Art Center's Visual Arts blog has launched. The first post, by assistant curator Doryun Chong, recounts an extraordinary trek into the Mojave Desert in search of an airplane fuselage. In preparation for an October retrospective by Paris-based, Chinese-born artist Huang Yong Ping, Chong and Huang wanted to find an EP-3 spy plane, the kind involved in the infamous 2001 collision between a US spy plane and a Chinese fighter jet, for the first installation of Bat Project IV. Read all about it.
And, while I'm at it, here's the URL for the Walker's monsterfeed (an RSS feed for all Walker blogs): http://feedshake.com/nfeeds/l6gf19cjtr.xml.
