Repost (sort of): I finally finished listening to the mp3 of Lawrence Lessig and Jeff Tweedy's talk at the New York Public Library on copyright and culture. It's a truly remarkable discussion. Lessig demonstrates why copyright law—on music, software, and films—should be a mainstream concern (rather than just an issue taken up by "pear-shaped men" with ponytails), and Tweedy offers incredible insights on the role of art and the industry that serves to distribute it. Kottke offers some excerpts here. (If anyone can find a full transcript of the talk, please let me know.)

Also: Hear Wilco's cover of "Don't Fear the Reaper," mentioned in the talk.
