Computational art: I love the art of Julie Mehretu: huge canvasses with expressionistic explosions of lines that, only on close inspection, reveal themselves to be the rigid forms of architectural blueprints, city planning grids, maps, and airport footprints. Amazing that such emotion could come from, well, such inhumanity. Jared Tarbell seems to be onto the same idea. His art takes the hard science of algorithms and spins it out, using computer programs.
