Fired
With no fanfare, the Bush administration axed the Labor Department
program that tracks mass layoffs, maybe because such gloomy statistics contradict the president's assertions that the economy's on the mend. In November (the last month reported by the bureau), 240,028 US workers were canned in 2,150 mass layoffs. In fact, in the first two years in office, Bush has
flubbed the economy thing (and just about everything else), according to Rep. Henry Waxman.
