He even has the historical connection with the pre-mocked-up image and the phone call. The sublime arrogance of the publishing industry strikes again!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4073789.post-5950899327946393612010-07-08T15:03:48.917-05:002010-07-08T15:03:48.917-05:00Anonymous 2:15p is right. Alex didn't own the idea (it's pretty generic). No one would mistake the two. Artists have to get over this idea that they "own" generic ideas. Anonymous No. 1 is right. Every piece of art is derivative in some way. Geez.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4073789.post-21185654196813171742010-07-03T17:35:47.524-05:002010-07-03T17:35:47.524-05:00You're wrong, it's douchey. I'm guessing you're a plant from the publisher.

Cameron J.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4073789.post-67124429835365683342010-07-02T22:26:00.106-05:002010-07-02T22:26:00.106-05:00Do what?? No one but an ignorant idiot would think the final book cover is identical in any way to the original Soth photograph (therefore no copyright issues). So the art director riffed off the general idea of laundry hanging out in the WINTER to create a desolate sense of place for a book entitled "WINTER's Bone". So, let's look through Alex Soth's portfolio and pick out images that were likely inspired by other photographers. Heck, let's go ahead and ban ALL derivative work - after all, good artists are entirely original in everything they do and nobody should ever copy them.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4073789.post-63794505451099297622010-06-30T17:24:23.426-05:002010-06-30T17:24:23.426-05:00So what happens now?
